The Myrdraal - WoT

Description

A while back I started to paint the Myrdraal, using as stock the dude from the movie ‘The DaVinci Code’, however I ended up disappointed in how it turned out so I scratched it and did it all over again. Today. It took approximately 3hrs to do.

You can see the result above.

I may or may not retouch it later once it’s been some time and I can see it with fresh eyes - so to speak – probably to give the skin more texture even though the dude is suppose to be smooth as marble.

Now to the tech info: Original working size is 1250x2000 with 300dpi. Brushes used are the basic ones, mostly the soft round brush but also the texture set from redheadstock - very faintly though.

Character info: now who the heck is the Myrdrall?

Well, it's not much of a Who as it is a What. It's a creature introduced to us through the wonderful work of the late Robert Jordan and his Wheel of Time series (my all time fav that I keep going back to).

A bad guy as you can imagine, who has no eyes, instead there’s smooth skin where the eyes should be and yet their stare can make even the bravest warrior a coward. If that isn't an oxymoronic thing I don't know what is. Heh

What else? Oh right, they can move like serpents, like they have no bones in their bodies and are very quick and excellent swordsmen.

If you want to know more, read the books. *lol*

You’ll probably see more WoT fan art too, once I get the ones I have finished.

I'm on my first time through the series and about halfway though The Fires of Heaven. Absolutely in love with the series! This is a pretty good rendition of how Fades are described! Though, I always imagined that there aren't even sockets for eyes to go in- kinda like Voldemort in the Harry Potter movies. lol But you've definitely captured the essence of the Eyeless!!
